Dear Group 4 members, especially Chavez and Ernest, do you think you can contribute more significantly to the story... It would not be nice when I invite your parents and they see that your group members have not worked on it.

Being a prefect
Being a prefect can be one of the most marvellous yet most frightening experience during school life. It feels great to be patrolling a corridor, telling off people that you do not especially like, honestly, it feels heavenly! However you must also think of the prices you have to pay, no playing during recess, wearing an uncomfortable tie the whole day... that's catastrophic! You might not believe me now, but just listen to this story I have to tell you about, it is true, for it is experienced by the number one prefect, me!The shouts of the children marked the beginning of a new school day as the children sprinted all over the school, some were playing soccer, some playing tag, some just adding to the total chaos. I shuddered at the immaturity of the students but I did not do anything as I had grown used to it through the various months I had been here I started to take care of the class. When I reached the class room, I flung my bag to my chair and started to try and manage the class. It was an amazing feat to even try and get the class to sit down as the class was very rowdy. As usual, Chavez was slumped over his table at the corner of the room ordering Jerald, the prefect of the class, and the other class captains to do insane things. Nicholas, on the other hand was pretending to brandish a rifle, no, a machine gun at other students and firing at them. I sighed and took a deep breath, then I shouted. "Everybody! Keep your noise level down!" As usual, it did not work one bit. Finally, I gave up and slumped down, appreciating the rare few who were not creating more trouble for us. Being a class captain is sure not an easy task, and I felt that if I was a prefect like Jerald, my life probably would be hell. Finally, the heavenly sound I was waiting for, the school bell! As usual, everybody grabbed their books and charged down the stairs. Unlike the other students, I preferred to take my time, and strolled slowly down the other staircase, which is not so crowded, to our usual spot in the Parade Square. After that, we began to sing the school song, or at least, some of us did. Chavez was not singing, instead, he was staring at the cover of his own book. I nudged him from afar and glared at him, urging him mentally to sing the school song. He shrugged and continued looking at his own book. He's hopeless, I thought, if I were a prefect, I would have at least a hundred reasons to put him in detention or even expel him. As I thought of his horrible exploits, I shuddered and continued reciting the pledge. When I got back to class, our form teacher annonced," Ernest, James, Ri Xuan, and Wei Jie, you have been selected to be prefects. It is a good chance to be a responsible leader." When I got back to my seat, Jerald muttered gravely to me," Yeah, and you will also have 10 minutes for recess. And facing some rowdy students." At the thought of this, I shivered and felt as if cold water were rushing down my spine. Holy, I would be lucky if I ever came back from my first patrol in one piece! When I got home, I told my mother the "good news". "Erm... I am chosen to be a prefect," I muttered darkly under my breath, just like I did when I faced my red-faced aunt after I smashed her window accidentaly with a baseball just four years previously. "Oh, great!" gasped my mother, "Ernest, I'm so proud of you!!!" "What? It's okay, I guess, but then, I will only have 10 minutes of recess, and if I am "lucky", I would probably be patrolling one of those dirty, abandoned corridors, facing some Primary Sixes!" I cried. With my titchy body size, I would be rolling back home in a wheelchair with only one limb after they're done with me, and that's if they're in a good mood. If they had just lost a football game..." I added, shuddering at the thought. The next day, I got out early as usual and went to school. The only thing "abnormal" was that I was told to go for recess at 10.25. After I had eaten, I went to the notice board and tried to find my name. "Ahh...... I am supposed to go to the Furniture Store". Then I got up. At first, I was lost. Later, I saw somebody there and actually, he is my senior. I started talking to him. He told me we have to stay here the whole recess(in a dirty, abandoned one of those ugly and smelly kind of corridor. I think I really was "lucky"). But we can do anything we want: talk, read, look at the empty space, build sandcastles in the air, and joke. I started to think that it was not so bad at all. Soon the bell rang and I got back to class, then I sawmy best friend Calvin. He was not a prefect so I told him what was like to be one. After a few weeks I was used to being a prefect. Then, out of the blue, there was an announcement for all prefects to go to the hall. The other prefects of the class got to the school hall with me. In the hall, the teacher told us that we were going to have a leadership camp during the year-end holidays.. He told us, "I hope you are not scared of heights as we are also going to do some activitives. Actually, this camp has a lot of interesting stuff!" Finally, it was the day. We all got onto the bus. There we waited for what seemed a eternity to reach the camp. A sign read, in big, bold, letters, read: ADVENTURE CAMP. There, we soon found out, was a chalet full of activities. On day one, we got to go hiking. on day two, we got to go canoeing. It was a lot of fun! I was glad to be told that the camp lasted for 10 days. On the fourth day, we were told that we were going to trek at a waterfall. I was very excited. There, the scenery was beautiful, the falls magnificent and there was a huge variety of flora and fauna. However, disaster struck. One of my group members, John, slipped and fell on the slippery edge. His head was bleeding badly. Blood was trickling out of his head via a gigantic gash on his head. All of us were stunned. We were at a loss of what to do. Just then, I realised that I had to do something. So, I decided to dash through the thin veil of water that seperated my group from the rest of the camp. Finally, I found the group of teachers and students. "John... fell... seriously injured..." I muttered under my breath. These were the only words I could get out. However, they still underestood me. With me to guide them, I led them to the spot where John had slipped. Immediately, one of the teachers whipped out his phone and summoned for an ambulance. "Thank you Ernest, for helping John." John's father told me. It was a week later, in the hospital. Turns out, being responsible can help others and build a strong self-confidence.
